Las Vegas Long Weekend: A Friday-to-Monday Plan
Fremont Street Experience with crowds and neon canopy overhead
Four days that add Hoover Dam and one great meal to the standard two-day sprint.
Friday: arrival and Strip
Land by 2pm, check in Center Strip, and spend the afternoon at your hotel pool — Fridays are less brutal than Saturdays. Dinner at 7 at Bazaar Meat inside SAHARA (Jose Andres, worth the money) or Mizumi at Wynn. Walk the north Strip after — the Fontainebleau opened at the top of the boulevard and its lobby is worth 20 minutes. Nightcap at Skyfall Lounge on top of Delano for the fountains view without the crowd.
Saturday: Red Rock and Downtown
Red Rock scenic loop 8-10am (see the two-day plan). Back for a proper brunch at Bouchon in the Venetian by 11:30. Afternoon at the pool until 4, then rideshare to the Arts District. Dinner at Esther's Kitchen at 6:30 — book weeks out. Walk 15 minutes to Fremont Street after for the light show, then Atomic Liquors for a nightcap. Sleep back on the Strip.
Sunday: Hoover Dam and a show
Drive to Hoover Dam via the scenic Boulder City route — 45 minutes out. Take the Powerplant Tour ($15, 30 minutes) and walk the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman bridge for the postcard view. Lunch in Boulder City at the Coffee Cup on Nevada Way. Back to the Strip by 3, pool until 5. Big dinner at 6:30 — Joel Robuchon at MGM, or Le Cirque at Bellagio. Show at 9:30.
Monday: brunch and depart
Sleep in. Brunch at 10 at Mon Ami Gabi facing the Bellagio fountains — one of the few Strip patios worth sitting on. Late checkout, airport by 1pm. Sleep all three nights at the Cosmopolitan, Aria, or Park MGM. Do not switch hotels — the friction is not worth any rate savings.
Before you book
What people ask before booking Boulder City.
Meaningfully yes. The third day lets you leave the Strip without feeling rushed, and the fourth morning turns the trip from a sprint into a vacation.
Land Friday afternoon and depart Monday early afternoon. Sunday-night flights are cheaper but you lose the best-priced hotel night, which more than cancels the airfare savings.
