Day 1: Strip and Downtown
Follow the one-day plan above at a slower pace: breakfast at Peppermill, Bellagio Conservatory at 10, High Roller at noon, lunch at Yardbird, Venetian canals until 3, rideshare to Fremont Street by 4. Add the Neon Museum boneyard at 6pm — the Brilliant! light show among the old signs is the best hour of history you can spend in this city, and tickets are $30. Dinner at 8 at Carson Kitchen a few blocks away.
Back to the Strip by 10:30 for the Bellagio fountains and either a drink at NoMad Library or the roof at the Waldorf. Sleep at the Cosmopolitan, Vdara, or Park MGM.
Day 2: Red Rock and a show
Rent a car or book a rideshare by 8am for the 20-minute drive to Red Rock Canyon. The 13-mile scenic loop requires a $2 timed-entry reservation booked in advance from October to May. Do the Calico Hills pullout, the Sandstone Quarry, and the Pine Creek trailhead — three stops, two hours, easy walking. Back on the Strip by noon for lunch at Mott 32 in the Palazzo.
Spend 2-5pm at your hotel pool — this is the day you earned it. Dinner at 6 somewhere close to your show. See a Cirque du Soleil (O at Bellagio or Mystere at Treasure Island) or an artist residency at the Sphere. After the show, walk the Strip lit up — this is when it looks like the postcards.
Where to sleep both nights
Stay in one hotel both nights on the Strip. Moving is a waste of two hours. Center Strip beats north Strip for walkability by a wide margin. If Red Rock is your priority, Red Rock Casino Resort in Summerlin cuts the drive to 10 minutes and has its own good pool — but you will rideshare more for the Strip half.
