Five walks in and around the city, ordered by what you actually see on foot.

The ranking

1. Bellagio to Cosmopolitan via the fountains — half a mile, all the classic photos, best between 8pm and midnight when shows run every 15 minutes. 2. Fremont Street Experience — five blocks under the Viva Vision canopy, from Main to 4th, buskers and zip lines overhead. 3. Arts District First Friday route — Main Street between Charleston and Colorado, galleries open late the first Friday of each month. 4. Historic Westside Legacy Park loop — 1.4 miles, tells the story of Las Vegas's Black community that the Strip ignores. 5. Wetlands Park loop, Henderson — 2 miles of paved trail through actual wetlands, free, 20 minutes from the Strip.

The fountain walk is the postcard; Fremont is the party; Arts District is where you meet people who live here.

Timing and what to skip

Do the Strip walk between the Aria/Cosmo end and Wynn/Encore only — the stretch south of Tropicana or north of Sahara turns dull fast, and the sidewalks are open to traffic noise both ways. In summer, walk anything outdoors before 9am or after 8pm; the Strip radiates heat off asphalt into the night in July.

Skips: the full Strip end-to-end (4.2 miles, mostly of construction sites and pedestrian bridges), and the Boneyard walk at the Neon Museum (great, but it's a paid tour, not a walk). Springs Preserve trails are fine but small.

Before you book

What people ask before booking Henderson.

Is it safe to walk the Las Vegas Strip at night?

Yes, the central Strip between Mandalay Bay and Wynn is well-lit, heavily policed, and busy until 2am. Avoid the Strip north of Sahara and the side streets one block east or west after dark.

How long does it take to walk the Las Vegas Strip?

End to end (Mandalay Bay to the Strat) is 4.2 miles, but with the pedestrian bridges, crowds, and hotel diversions it takes 2.5-3 hours without stops. Most people walk only the central 1.5 miles.
