Stay on the Strip between Park MGM and the Wynn — that mile-and-a-half stretch has the Bellagio fountains, the Sphere, most headline shows and the monorail. July and August are also cheap midweek because it’s 40°C+, but weekends still spike with pool parties. February around Super Bowl week is expensive; the week after is one of the best-value windows of the year.

Three nights covers the Las Vegas Strip and one day-trip to Hoover Dam or Red Rock Canyon. Five to seven adds either Death Valley via Beatty, the Grand Canyon West Rim, or a stretch at Lake Mead. For a Vegas-to-Tahoe road trip via US-95 or US-50 you want 10–14 nights so you can overnight in Tonopah and Ely rather than driving 7 hours straight. Anything under 3 nights on the Strip and the resort fees start dominating the bill.

A taxi from LAS to the Strip is a flat rate of $19–$27 plus a $2 airport fee, taking 10–15 minutes via the tunnel — always ask for the tunnel, not the Boulevard. Uber and Lyft pick up from Terminal 1 level 2M and Terminal 3 level 3, typically $15–$25. The RTC Centennial Express bus is $6 but stops on Las Vegas Boulevard, not at hotel doors. Shared shuttles are slower than a taxi and only cheaper for solo travellers.

Not for a Las Vegas Strip trip — the Deuce bus, monorail and short Ubers cover it, and hotel self-parking is now $18–$25 a night at MGM and Caesars properties. You need a car for Lake Tahoe, Death Valley, US-50, Red Rock Canyon at your own pace, or anything past Henderson. Reno-Tahoe airport rentals are usually 20–30% cheaper than LAS. Book a one-way LAS-to-RNO rental if you’re doing a proper road trip; the drop fee is worth it to skip the backtrack.
