When to go

The best times to visit Washington are spring (March to May) and fall (September to November), when the weather is mild and comfortable. Spring brings the famous cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin, usually in late March or early April. Summer can be hot and humid, while winter is cold with occasional snow. Many tourists visit during spring and summer, so hotel prices may be higher. Weekdays in spring and fall are less crowded than weekends.
